Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University popularly known as B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University came into existence in 1992. It has a strong linegae which begins in 1952 with Patna University.

1952: Universities of Bihar separated from Patna University

1960: Bihar State University came into force and three universities were formed namely: Bihar University, Muzaffarpur (2) Ranchi University, Ranchi (3) Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur.

1961: Bihar University Act bifurcated Bihar University, Muzaffarpur into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Magadh University, Bodh Gaya.

1973: A further bifurcation gave birth to Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Mithila University,Darbhanga.

1990: Bihar University, Muzaffarpur was divided into Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and J.P. University, Chapra.

1992: Bihar University changed its name to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University and since then it is known as B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.

B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University is a premier state university of Bihar, currently has has 37 constituent colleges under its belt. It is also a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Besides offering academic courses its also the organizes symposium, seminars and workshops.

Admission to Various Courses in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University

Admission to all courses is purely on merit. Candidates who have passed 10 plus 2 from any recognized board in India are eligible for BA, B.Sc. and B.Com courses.
Entrance exam is conducted for admission to BEd programme.
For MBA programme, candidates with valid scores in CAT, MAT, and XAT are eligible.
