Aryabhatta Knowledge University in Patna came into existence with the Aryabhatta Knowledge University Act 2008 and its main role was to conduct affiliation of engineering and technological institutes and other professional institutes. It is responsible for affiliating professional colleges like Medicine, Optometry, Nano technology & Biotechnology, Management, Law and Nursing
It oversees the development and management of infrastructure related to technical, medical, management and allied professional education in the state. Lack of proper infrastructure is one of the main reasons why Bihar witnesses brain drain and AKU promises to fill that gap.
Its mission is to undertake research studies and result oriented projects, specific to the region, that may contribute to the economic development of the country.
